Your Event at the Park

Te Puna Quarry Park is a great place to hold day time functions, such as weddings, birthday parties, corporate picnics, club meetings, workshops, and so on. 

We're happy to reserve our building The Gallery for your function.  Included in the reservation is the kitchen and other equipment (see details below), and the Dragon Lawn alongside the Gallery.

For hire of the Gallery, Kitchen and Lawn, there is a one day charge of $200.  If you need to set up the day before and/or pack out the day after, there will be an extra charge of $150 for each of these days. On set up and pack out days, the Dragon Lawn should be available for other Park visitors to use.

        In addition we expect a generous donation to support the work of the volunteers who make your  event at the park possible.

The Gallery has a well equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher, hot water on tap,l fridge, as well as crockery and cutlery to accommoddate 60 to 70 people.  There are 10 lightweight trestle tables and an assortment of both plastic and stacking chairs.  Caterers canbe hired or self catering used.  The Gallery can be completely closed in or opened out to access the Dragon Lawn or carpark.

GUIDELINES FOR FUNCTIONS AT TE PUNA QUARRY PARK

So that everybody can enjoy their day at the Park, we ask that these guidelines be followed for any functions being held there:

  1. Keep numbers to a manageable level.
  2. Leave the kitchen in a clean and tidy condition.
  3. With larger groups, make arrangements for security and crowd control.
  4. Control parking so as not to interfere with other Park users.
  5. Collect and take away all rubbish produced at your function. (Please DON'T use confetti, artificial petals or similar.)
  6. Ask first before you use generators and amplifiers.
  7. Alcohol consumption should be limited.
  8. Noise should be kept to a minimum.
  9. At all times respect the right of others to use and enjoy the Park.
  10. Most functions are expected to be finished by 10pm

The Gallery
 
The Gallery could be a great place to hold your wedding.
But it can be used for other functions too. This multipurpose building is available for public use and includes toilets. The well equipped kitchen can be hired, although it is not intended to be a full catering kitchen. There are chairs and trestle tables, crockery and cutlery for 60 to 70 people (not wine glasses). Food can be kept warm or cold as required, and hot drinks served. The building can now be closed and locked overnight if necessary. Ideal for weddings, children’s parties, meetings, exhibitions, a corporate team base, or a school group learning place.

 

Areas and Facilities at Te Puna Quarry Park

Pavilion Lawn

A large expanse of lawn, overlooked by the Pavilion - an ideal place for your wedding party or corporate picnic. With our permission you could erect a marquee here. By November 2014, power will be available at the Pavilion. Vehicle access is the Main Track right beside the lawn.
 

GatheringLawn 

Another flat lawn area near the Frog Pond and just below the amphitheatre. There is vehicle access via the Main Track. 

Dragon Lawn

Pretty in spring when the cherry trees are blossoming, shady in summer, adjacent to The Gallery and toilets, a popular place for weddings and birthday parties - the children’s favourite, our Dragon, overlooks the lawn.
 

Green Room alongside Gathering Lawn

 

The Green Room is a large shelter situated on the Gathering Lawn next to the amphitheatre.

Amphitheatre

A large grass amphitheatre, with flat grass stage area. Used for Carol Concerts, entertainment on QuarryFest days and events like Theatre Sports. Vehicle access is via the Main Track.
 

Herb Garden

A very pretty lawn area in summer and autumn with a shelter on one side. There is no vehicle access here. Walking tracks and steps take you up to this lawn from the Pavilion Lawn or down from the West Track Lookout.
