Your Event at the Park

Te Puna Quarry Park is a great place to hold day time functions, such as weddings, birthday parties, corporate picnics, club meetings, workshops, and so on.

We're happy to reserve an area for your function; we just ask for a donation relative to the type and scale of the function you're holding.
(As a suggestion, you should base your donation on $2 per adult and $1 per child, taking into account what facilities you use.)

For use of the Gallery, we ask for a generous donation to the Te Puna Quarry Park, plus a set charge of $55 if you'd like to use the kitchen. (For example, a full wedding with reception for 50 people should be a minimum of $100 plus $55).

Areas and Facilities at Te Puna Quarry Park

Pavilion Lawn

A large expanse of lawn, overlooked by the Pavilion - an ideal place for your wedding party or corporate picnic. With our permission you could erect a marquee here. By November 2014, power will be available at the Pavilion. Vehicle access is the Main Track right beside the lawn.

Dragon Lawn

Pretty in spring when the cherry trees are blossoming, shady in summer, adjacent to The Gallery and toilets, a popular place for weddings and birthday parties - the children’s favourite, our Dragon, overlooks the lawn.

The Gallery

The Gallery could have many uses. This multipurpose building is available for public use and includes toilets. The well equipped kitchen can be hired, although it is not intended to be a full catering kitchen. There are chairs and trestle tables, crockery and cutlery for 60 to 70 people (not wine glasses). Food can be kept warm or cold as required, and hot drinks served. The building can now be closed and locked overnight if necessary. Ideal for weddings, children’s parties, meetings, exhibitions, a corporate team base, or a school group learning place.

A large grass amphitheatre, with flat grass stage area. Used for Carol Concerts, entertainment on QuarryFest days and events like Theatre Sports. Vehicle access is via the Main Track.

Gathering Lawn

Another flat lawn area near the Frog Pond and just below the amphitheatre. A marquee could be erected here. Could also be used in conjunction with the amphitheatre. There is vehicle access via the Main Track.

Herb Garden

A very pretty lawn area in summer and autumn with a shelter on one side. There is no vehicle access here. Walking tracks and steps take you up to this lawn from the Pavilion Lawn or down from the West Track Lookout.

So that everybody can enjoy their day at the Park, we ask that these guidelines be followed for any functions being held there:

  1. Keep numbers to a manageable level - we suggest up to 70 if using the Gallery and/or kitchen.
  2. Leave the kitchen in a clean and tidy condition.
  3. With larger groups, make arrangements for security and crowd control.
  4. Control parking so as not to interfere with normal use of the Park.
  5. Collect and dispose of any rubbish produced at your function.
  6. Do not use generators and amplifiers except by prior arrangement.
  7. Alcohol consumption should be limited.
  8. Noise should be kept to a minimum.
  9. At all times respect the right of others to use and enjoy the Park.
  10. 10.Vehicles should be outside the Park gates by sunset when the gates are locked.

Any requirements outside these guidelines should be communicated to the Society for its consideration on a one off basis.
